LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo has signed a bill for school zones after the 36th Special Session.

The bill allows local control of school zones: allowing cities and the county to lengthen a zone, modify flasher signs and times of operation.

“Assembly Bill 6 is a piece of legislation focused on strengthening safety in our school zones and protecting the students who travel them every day. This bill is not just policy, it’s personal. It represents our shared responsibility to safeguard young people with the communities,” said State Sen. Michelee Cruz-Crawford, who is also a CCSD principal and educator.

“I want to dedicate this bill in memory to the students’ lives who we lost tragically,” Cruz-Crawford said.
