LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Nevada State Police and Las Vegas police released their statistics for New Year’s Day enforcement.

Nevada State Police said their “Drive Sober or It’s Over” campaign started noon on Dec. 31 for 24 hours.

NSP said they saw 49 DUI arrests, 1,358 traffic stops, 999 citations and 10 other arrests.

“The number of arrests underscore the ongoing challenge of keeping our roads safe, and that through the enforcement efforts and proactive strategies by the Highway Patrol, suspected impaired drivers were removed from our roadways,” police said. “Troopers worked tirelessly to identify and remove impaired drivers, reinforcing the message that driving under the influence is not just a crime, it’s a gamble no one should take.”

Nevada Highway Patrol wants to remind motorists that every decision matters behind the wheel.

For Las Vegas police, their New Year’s Eve blitz was a success, according to an Instagram post.

LVMPD said 540 citations were issued, 26 were arrested for DUI with seven other arrests and three firearms were recovered.

Police also conducted 32 blood draws.
