LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The FBI’s latest Internet Crime Report puts Nevada near the top of the list for online scams and cyber fraud.
In 2025, Nevada victims reported more than $302 million in losses to the Internet Crime Complaint Center. The state ranks 18th in the nation for total dollar loss but third when adjusted for population — more than $9.2 million lost for every 100,000 Nevadans.

Nevada also ranks third in the country for how often people report being targeted with around 407 complaints for every 100,000 residents.
Nationwide, investment fraud, business email compromise and tech support scams drove record losses. The FBI said elderly victims and cryptocurrency investors are bearing a big part of that damage.
The FBI received more than 1 million complaints in 2025, with total losses surpassing $20.8 billion — a 26% increase from 2024.
Nevada received 13,366 total complaints in 2025, with losses totaling $302,235,247.
Nevada residents filed 2,518 complaints involving cryptocurrency in 2025, with losses exceeding $205 million. The state ranked 20th nationally for cryptocurrency-related complaints.
Victims age 60 and older in Nevada filed 3,008 complaints, reporting losses of more than $115 million. The state ranked 23rd nationally for elder fraud complaints.
Agents urge anyone who spots a suspicious transfer or email to contact their bank immediately and file a report at ic3.gov.
