LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — As more businesses prompt customers for gratuities, many Americans say they are feeling “tip fatigue.” But a new report suggests people in Nevada are still opening their wallets.

The analysis ranked states by their average tip percentage. South Carolina topped the list, with residents leaving an average tip of 20.7%. Wisconsin came in second at 19.2%, followed by Connecticut and Maryland, both at 18.4%.

Nevada rounded out the top five. According to the report, Nevadans leave an average tip of 16.8%, or nearly 17%.

The findings come as tipping prompts have expanded beyond traditional sit-down restaurants to include coffee shops, counter-service restaurants, rideshares, and even some retail stores, prompting a national conversation about when — and how much — to tip.
