LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Nevada’s top election official is in our nation’s capitol, watching a Supreme Court case that could change how states count mail ballots that arrive after election day.
President Donald Trump is pushing justices to limit the mail-in system. Some voter groups say states have flexibility in whether to embrace mail-in ballots and how to regulate them.
Nevada’s Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar spoke with FOX5 about the possible impact. He stresses that Nevada’s rules and deadlines are different from those of many other states. He is in D.C. to make sure the court understands how mail-in voting works in Nevada.

Secretary Aguilar said, “Nevada runs some of the safest, most secure, and accessible elections in the country. And the fact that Nevadans have adopted mail ballots as the preferred choice to engage is really, I think, a critical comment on the makeup of our state as a whole,”
A ruling is expected in July.
