LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Nevada Senator Jacky Rosen took the floor Thursday to rail against plans to cut more than 80,000 jobs from the Department of Veterans Affairs.
The objective is to return to 2019 staffing levels. That would cut the number of employees in half. An internal memo instructs top level supervisors to prepare for an agency-wide reorganization.
The VA provides healthcare and services to millions of American veterans.
“This is being felt in every corner of our country,” she said. “It’s impacting our veterans who rely on the VA, seniors who rely on social security and Medicare, families who rely on Medicaid and CHIPS for their child’s healthcare and so many others.”
Rosen says the cuts will lead to longer wait times for services, and that will lead to a decline in their physical and mental health.
