LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Nevada State Police released the identity of the pedestrian who was hit and killed by a commercial truck.
According to police, 52-year-old Shawn Robert Saenz stepped in front of the truck traveling northbound for unknown reasons and later died at the scene of the crash.
On Sept. 29, just after 1 a.m. State Troopers responded to the crash near IR15 and Mile marker 54.
Officials shared this was just north of the northbound on-ramp.
NSP reported that the driver of the white 2016 Freightliner commercial truck attempted to swerve left but was unsuccessful and hit the pedestrian.
The commercial vehicle driver remained on the scene and cooperated with police.
This marks 62 fatal crashes in 2024 so far, according to the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol report.
