NORTH LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Nevada State University will expand to North Las Vegas after the Nevada System of Higher Education approved the budget for the project.
The university will build a campus on a 20-acre property at Las Vegas Boulevard and Lake Mead. Students who live in the area currently commute to the main campus in Henderson.
University leaders say the expansion is a step toward improving the local workforce.
“We take a tremendous amount of pride of being nimble and really being able to work to meet the needs of the workforce and intend to work hand in hand with the city of North Las Vegas to make sure that the academic offerings that we have are paired with what those workforce needs are,” said Dr. Amber Lopez Lasater.
University leaders expect a groundbreaking this spring with the goal of opening for the fall 2027 semester.
