CARSON CITY, Nev. (KOLO) – On Tuesday, Nevada’s Secretary of State, Cisco Aguilar, met with the Nevada Supreme Court at the State Capitol in Carson City to certify the 2024 election results. This follows each county and city board of commissioners/supervisors canvassing the vote on November 15th.

Aguilar started the meeting by laying out an overview of the general election. He says our elections are more secure and safe than ever. However, staff turnover and increasingly complex requirements led to some administrative errors and confusion. Aguilar added that he worked directly with these counties to correct any issues they had, and none of the problems they encountered affected the results in any way.

The Secretary of State also touted the success of VREMS (voter registration election management system) that helped streamline voters’ experience and created a central database for all Nevada counties.

Here is a breakdown highlighting some of the notable statistics regarding voter turnout:

  • 1,487,887 voters participated (73% of active registered voters)
  • Lincoln County had highest turnout at 92%
  • Clark County had lowest turnout at 70.2%
  • 45% – by mail
  • 37% – early vote
  • 18% – on election day

With Tuesday’s certification, the statewide results are now official. After the Supreme Court certification, the Governor will issue certificates of election and proclamations declaring election of candidates (NRS 293.395(3)).
