LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Nevada State Treasurer Zach Conine shared a message to students and their families following a recently approved rate hike.

Last week, the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents approved a tuition increase for the state’s universities, colleges, and community colleges last week. On Sunday, Treasurer Conine shared a message reassuring those participating in the Prepaid Tuition Program.

In his response, Conine said existing Nevada Prepaid Tuition account holders will not be impacted by these changes. Current participants in the program remain locked in at today’s in-state tuition rates, ensuring their investment is protected regardless of future tuition hikes.

“Our mission is to help Nevada families plan for post-secondary education with confidence,” Conine said. “Prepaid Tuition is a powerful way to shield families from rising costs and ensure that every dollar they invest today goes directly toward their child’s education tomorrow.”

The increase will take effect in the 2026-2027 academic year and continue through the 2028-2029 academic year.
