CARSON CITY, Nev. (KOLO) – A new bill entered into the Nevada State Legislature would forbid ICE agents from entering school districts to investigate or enforce immigration laws without a warrant or lawful order.

AB217 was introduced by Assemblymember Cecelia González and would also prohibit the use of chemical agents or stun guns against a student.

The bill would also bar a school district or public school from disclosing or providing the education records or information of a student or their families to ICE unless directed to do so by a warrant or lawful order.

Any person found in violation of the proposed ordinance would be charged with a misdemeanor.
