NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A new community center in North Las Vegas is getting ready to open their doors- offering free bilingual support for families in need.

The new Dolores Huerta Resource Center will offer everything from education and health services to arts and technology. The city of North Las Vegas partnered with multiple nonprofits to bring all of these services under one roof.

“100% free, everything in this facility, out of this resource center, will be free to the community,” said Director of Community Services Wilson Ramos. “So we’re starting with adult literacy classes, vocational training and certifications, upskilling for those that may not be gainfully employed.”

The idea came from the residents themselves, the city of North Las Vegas sent out thousands of surveys through utility bills and the number one thing neighbors asked for was mental health support.

“We have therapists, LCSW’s, family, medical therapists, primary care physicians, that will all be available here on site every day of the week,” Ramos said.

Healthcare is one of the center’s biggest priorities. Ramos explained a federally funded clinic will offer physicals, preventative care and even come up with a treatment plan for patients.

“Whether they have insurance or not, so there are at the extreme wrap arounds as we talked about to make sure that people are holistically served,” Ramos said.

The center will also include a tech lab, legal workshops and cultural programs. Everything is available in multiple languages and most of the services are available to people without documentation.

“We want to make sure that our residents understand that this place is for them to come and learn,” said Maggie Mora, community outreach manager. “It’s going to be empowering for them to learn English, technology, and different stuff that we have.”

The Dolores Huerta Resource Center officially opens to the public on Tuesday, April 22 at 3 p.m.

The center will be open Monday through Saturday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
