LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The city council has approved a Las Vegas architecture firm to begin designing the first phase of the Northwest Regional Park.

Carpenter Sellers Del Gatto Architects will design the 18-acre phase located near Log Cabin Way and El Capitan Way.

The park honors the former Las Vegas & Tonopah Railroad, which connected the Union Pacific line in Las Vegas to the Bullfrog Mining District in 1907.

The park will feature amenities and open spaces for all ages.
