SCOTTSDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — New surveillance video shows the moment former Coyotes player Paul Bissonnette approached a group of men apparently harassing staff, and a brawl broke out, spilling into the parking lot late last month.
On Tuesday, Scottsdale Police released the videos from the Houston’s, near McDonald Drive and Scottsdale Road.
Video from inside the restaurant on Nov. 24 around 7:15 p.m. shows a group of men around staff members.
According to Bissonnette, he saw several men who were angry that staff wouldn’t serve them drinks, and verbal fights were turning physical, so he stepped in.
The surveillance video shows Bissonnette walking up to the group and saying something to them. There is no audio in the video.
Bissonnette previously said he grabbed a man’s arm and told the group that there would be problems if they kept harassing the employees.
In the video, there is some pushing and shoving and then punches are thrown between Bissonnette and another man.
Bissonnette backpedals, and the fight goes out of the restaurant and into the parking lot.
A second video shows the fight through the front door, with one man grabbing Bissonnette’s shirt, while the rest of the group follows.
In the third video, Bissonnette has lost his shirt as his attackers are still hitting him.
The video is from a city of Scottsdale camera at Scottsdale Road and McDonald Drive.
Three men pull Bissonnette to the ground and kick him.
Bissonnette eventually gets up and runs off while at least two other men follow him.
Several members of the group are then seen walking down McDonald Drive.
Several other suspects were seen on Scottsdale Road, and the surveillance video shows a police SUV pulling up to them.
The six suspects are Henry Mesker, John Carroll, William Carroll, Danny Bradley, Edward Jennings and Sean Daley. All but Daley were booked on misdemeanor charges.
A grand jury indicted Daley on Dec. 3 on felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor disorderly conduct.
‘Just all started throwing punches’
Scottsdale police also released the 911 calls concerning the fight, including one from Paul Bissonnette.
“Yeah, I, there was a couple of people harassing employees and I tried to get in the way and they just all started throwing punches,” he told the dispatcher.
“Were they punching you?” asked the dispatcher.
“Oh, yeah, I got, I had to run out of the restaurant,” Bissonnette said.
The dispatcher then asked him his name.
“Paul Bissonette. I used to play hockey here sir. If you talk to the staff, they’ll tell you I was just trying to help out. They started swinging,” Bissonnette said.
Bissonnette played for the Coyotes franchise from 2009 to 2014.
