LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — NFL owners will likely award the 2029 Super Bowl to Las Vegas during their annual meeting Monday, according to ESPN.

The announcement is set to come in the early afternoon, sources tell FOX5. National reports say the vote is a formality and is expected to face little resistance.

This will be the second Super Bowl awarded to Las Vegas following Super Bowl 58 in 2024. The vote requires at least 24 of the 32 owners to approve it.

The 2029 Super Bowl is scheduled to air on FOX.

Raiders ownership succession plan on Tuesday agenda

NFL owners are also expected to vote on a succession plan for the ownership of the Raiders. The vote would allow Egon Durbin to become the majority owner of the Raiders and buy the majority of the shares should Mark Davis decide to sell those shares.

Mark Davis said the minority ownership group, which includes Durbin, Mike Meldman and Tom Brady, is important for the franchise moving forward.

“Tom is a partner that is football-oriented and knows football better than probably anybody right now,” Davis said. “Mike, in business and hospitality and everything, knows more about it than I think anybody I know. Egon is a very accomplished businessman in his game, right? And they bring a different structure to the organization and different tools to the organization that gives us the ability to go on the field and off.”

Las Vegas sports boom from 2028-2029

The Las Vegas valley is set for a major run of sporting events starting in 2028, with the Final Four scheduled for early April, the A’s expected to open their new stadium and play their first game, and a possible NBA expansion team on the horizon.

If awarded to the valley, the Super Bowl would follow that run in February 2029.
