LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A 57-year-old man was arrested in Las Vegas last month in connection to a cold case out of North Carolina.

Winston-Salem Police Department revealed that a warrant for the arrest of Christopher Wilson was sent to North Las Vegas Police Department on Thursday, May 30.

Wilson is suspected of stabbing Dwight Adair Smith to death on Jan. 11, 2010. Police arriving on the scene would discover Smith’s body with “multiple lacerations” inside the home. It was the first homicide in Winston-Salem that year.

The case had previously gone cold but was reopened by law enforcement after detectives received a tip.

Wilson was taken into custody on unrelated charges and remains in custody in Las Vegas as he awaits extradition to North Carolina.
