LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — More than a month after a mother and her former boyfriend were found shot and killed inside a southwest Las Vegas home, investigators have not named a suspect — and the families of both victims say they are still waiting for answers.

Briana Flowers, 31, and Anfernee Akeem Pollard, 31, were killed in late January. Flowers’ 6-year-old son called police after discovering them inside the home. Metro Police have confirmed no one has been taken into custody. It is also not clear whether a suspect may still be at large.

This week, Flowers’ family gathered for a prayer ceremony and butterfly release in her honor. Family members described her as confident and beautiful.

“We just trying to, you know, get some, some type of closure if that’s what you want to call it,”said Briana’s uncle Richard Reid. “And, um, that’s about it and try to move on into the next phase until we get the, the justice for her.”

Reid also expressed gratitude toward those affected by the case.

“To the young man that was with her, to his family, to all the families that’s affected — we just want to say thanks, everybody, for the support,” Reid said. “And we love you, Bri. And we always will.”

Pollard remembered in Belize as music artist

Pollard was flown back to Belize following his death, where family members say the loss has affected an entire community. He was a well-known music artist there, performing under the name “Big Bang.”

“Everyone is shocked,” Pollard’s aunt Sheila Young said. “Because this is not what you expect. Not with him.”

A funeral service was held in Belize, attended by family, friends, and fans. His family said police, media, and others were present at the airport when his body arrived.

“It is a pretty big deal here,” Pollard said.

Pollard had been working on music for more than a decade, starting in Belize before moving to the United States. His family said he had new management meetings scheduled for the week after his death.

“I just try to think that he’s out there working on his music,” Young said. “But as time goes by and I don’t hear from him, it gets harder. It gets harder.”

His aunt said she believes justice will happen eventually.

“I don’t know what happened, how it happened, but I know that justice will be served,” she said. “There’s no way that you could do something like this and get away with it.”

Families acknowledge shared grief

Members of both families said they are aware of each other’s loss.

“There’s no winner in this,” Young said. “There’s a family that lost a daughter, who lost a nephew, son — and the person that did this, they had a family too.”

Investigation ongoing

Metro Police said on the day of the double homicide that there had been prior domestic violence calls to the home. Additional records and details have not been made available.

Police have not named a suspect. The investigation is ongoing.
