LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Court records are revealing more about the man who opened fire in a North Las Vegas apartment complex Monday night.

North Las Vegas Police Department responded around 10 p.m. to an apartment complex in the 300 block of Casa Norte Dr. and located two women suffering from gunshot wounds. Two more women, a man, and a 13-year-old girl were later also discovered at the scene, all suffering from gunshot wounds.

Five of the victims were declared dead, while a 13-year-old girl remains in critical condition.

47-year-old Eric Adams was identified as a suspect Tuesday morning and led police on a brief manhunt that ended in his suicide.

North Las Vegas court records show that Adams had a criminal background that dated back more than two decades. In 1999, he was charged with burglary, robbery, and murder, though a jury would later find him not guilty on all counts.

In 2002, Adams was charged with domestic battery and battery on a police officer. A jury would find him guilty on all counts.

He would also receive additional charges of battery, robbery, and domestic violence in 2007 and 2008. Additionally, Nevada Department of Corrections records show he served time for a battery charge in 2009.

A judge would order Adams to attend a domestic violence counseling course, pay a fine, and complete community service in March 2023, after he was charged with domestic battery once again in January. Records show he completed the course on June 3, 2024, almost two weeks before the shooting.

One apartment complex resident told FOX5 on Tuesday, “In talking to him he said he’s been in trouble in the past, and my thing with that was, we’ve all had some kind of issues in our life, but sometimes we need to turn our lives around and make better choices, better decisions.”

They added, “You never can tell what someone is going through.”
