LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – North Las Vegas police said they are still searching for the suspect in a fatal hit-and-run crash after finding the vehicle involved.

Police said the crash happened near Lake Mead Boulevard and McCarran Street 4 a.m. Saturday. When officers arrived, they found a man on the roadway dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the pedestrian was crossing Lake Mead Boulevard outside a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle speeding eastbound.

Police said the driver fled before police could arrive.

Police later found the suspect vehicle. Police believed it was a tan or beige 1998-2002 Mercury Grand Marquis with a dark-colored landau roof. Police received a tip from a citizen.

The driver remains outstanding. Police thank the public for vigilance and continued support.
