LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – North Las Vegas voters approved two measures on the primary election ballot aimed at providing critical community funding.
Question 1, which directs funding to Fund 268, is designed to support the North Las Vegas Fire Department and Recreation Department. It received 77% approval from voters.
Thanks to Fund 268, North Las Vegas was able to establish the first new fire station in the area in over a decade, help purchase new fire and rescue trucks, and purchase life-saving Technical Rescue Equipment to respond to flash floods and chemical containment events. It would also help upgrade the city’s public safety camera system and rehabilitate existing parks, pools, recreational facilities, and community centers.
Question 2, which directs funding into Fund 287, is focused on supporting the North Las Vegas Police Department, the Community Corrections Center, and Animal Protective Services. It received 79% approval from voters.
The approved funding will sustain around 65 positions across these essential services, covering costs related to personnel, equipment, and more.
“I’m thrilled and relieved that our community sees the benefit in maintaining our public safety and quality of life funding,” said North Las Vegas Mayor Pamela Goynes-Brown. “The City of North Las Vegas is on an incredible trajectory and the redirection of these resources would have been a setback for our residents. I view this as a vote of confidence for the course our city has chosen.”
