DEATH VALLEY, Calif. (FOX5) — The National Park Service is seeking public comment on a new accessibility self-evaluation and transition plan for Death Valley National Park.

The plan evaluates access to restrooms, walkways, ranger programs, and other visitor services.

The survey has three goals: documenting existing barriers to accessibility for people with disabilities, providing an approach for upgrading facilities, services, activities and programs, and establishing a culture of universal access.

As improvements are planned, the park said it will consider potential impacts to natural and cultural resources, designated wilderness, long-term infrastructure maintenance and the desired level of development for each site.

How to comment

Both the self-evaluation and transition plan document and the Implementation Strategy Table are available for public review and comment. The comment period runs through April 16, 2026.
