LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A Nevada State Police employee was arrested Friday on a DUI charge, according to an arrest report.
Las Vegas police accuse Jacob Fisher of DUI. The incident started Friday at 1:36 a.m. near Fort Apache and Mountains Edge.
A police officer observed a dark minivan driving over 80 mph in a 35 mph zone. The officer initiated a traffic stop in a gated neighborhood at Cactus and Rich Sands Street.
Police said Fisher’s speed caused dust and dirt to fly behind the car.
When police approached Fisher, he was already trying to enter a home through the garage. Fisher initially ignored police until he later approached the officer.
Police said Fisher was “nervous, hyper and unsettled.” He had bloodshot, watery eyes and smelled of alcohol.
Police asked Fisher how much alcohol he had that day. Fisher said he didn’t drink, but was at a sushi restaurant for dinner and was heading home.
Las Vegas police conducted sobriety tests on Fisher, which he failed. During the tests, police said Fisher admitted to “absolutely speeding,” driving 20 mph over the speed limit.
Because Fisher failed the sobriety tests, he was placed under arrest on a DUI charge.
FOX5 asked Nevada State Police for a statement.
“The Nevada State Police Highway Patrol is aware of the incident involving a division employee who has been placed on administrative leave while an internal investigation is conducted,” NSP said.
Fisher is due for a status check at 8 a.m. on Jan. 27.
