LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – NV Energy says Mt. Charleston residents could expect a power shut off from Friday to Saturday.

Officials say Angel Peak and Kyle Canyon are under a “WATCH” status for a public safety outage management event.

FIRST ALERT WEATHER: More Clouds and Late Night Wind Friday

FOX5 meteorologists say Las Vegas Valley residents could expect a late night breeze with increased winds holding through Saturday.

NV Energy is monitoring the weather and seeing if a proactive outage is possible. It could start Friday at 4 p.m. and last until mid-morning on Saturday.

“If an outage is necessary, our teams do plan to use the microgrid to keep as many customers in power as possible,” officials say. “Tomorrow morning, NV Energy teams will be on Mt. Charleston, setting up the microgrid and generators ahead of the expected high winds. Customers should expect to experience a short outage between noon and 3 p.m. on Friday while the microgrid is staged and energized.”
