LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – NV Energy is installing new power poles this week in Mt. Charleston.

According to officials, NV Energy has partnered with agencies to replace aging power poles in Angel Peak with new fire mitigation equipment. The replacements will take place from Oct. 14 to the end of 2024.

NV Energy reported that the terrain is steep and mountainous, requiring helicopter assistance.

Officials do not expect power outages or road and trail closures to impact residents in the area.

The new equipment to be installed is said to use innovative fire mesh technology, which enhances its resilience and fire safety.

NV Energy leaders say the project is part of an initiative to increase equipment protection from natural disasters, known as Power Safe NV.
