LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — NV Energy is offering a helping hand to federal employees impacted by the government shutdown, officials said.
The shutdown has made its way into its 13th day. AP reports the closure halted routine government operations, national parks and recreational areas have furloughed employees, and airports have been scrambling with flight disruptions, with reportedly no end in sight.
NV Energy says federal employee customers whose jobs have been affected and may be having trouble paying their utility bills can utilize programs and services. Officials report this assistance can help set up payment plans or waive late fees.
Republican Speaker of the House Mike Johnson addressed the shutdown in a press conference on Monday, where he reportedly predicted it could become one of the longest government shutdowns in history, according to AP.
“We’re barreling toward one of the longest shutdowns in American history,” Johnson said.
NV Energy officials said they hope customers can continue their services without interruption. Customers looking for assistance can reach NV Energy’s customer service line at 702-402-5555 in Southern Nevada or at 775-834-4444 in Northern Nevada.
