LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — NV Energy says it will start accepting applications for its updated NV GreenEnergy Rider program.

The public utility company says it will start accepting applications Saturday. Officials say the program makes energy from renewable resources available to residential and business customers.

“This will help customers achieve their sustainability goals and drive the development of more clean energy in Nevada,” NV Energy said in a press release.

Officials said eligible customers pay an additional fee to offset electricity usage through existing renewable resources or new renewable resources.

All customer classes can apply to use existing renewable resources with no minimum size requirement, according to a media release.

Customers must submit a letter of intent to NV Energy by Nov. 30. Officials say if more customers sign up than available program capacity, a transparent lottery system will designate energy allotments.

Program rates and capacity allotments for northern and southern Nevada customers are available here.
