LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — NV Energy has filed with the Public Utilities Commission to add additional refunds to over 42,000 customers impacted by a rate misclassification.
According to NV Energy, after the error was discovered $5.4 million was initially refunded to customers. The power company now says they will offer an additional $32.6 million, which would include interest to the current and former customers affected.
NV Energy officials said thousands of homes were incorrectly labeled and charged as single-family dwellings. These misclassifications were issued on or around June 23, 2017.
NV Energy says in addition to issuing the refunds they plan to hire a third party company to review and determine accuracy on the corrective actions taken to rectify the impact to customers.
The PUCN will review the proposal before any refunds are issued. Once they are approved, NV Energy says checks will be mailed to customers.
NV Energy says you can check their website for updates as the review process progresses.
