LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Deputies in Nye County are currently seizing seven tigers from a home in Pahrump Wednesday morning.

The Nye County Sheriff’s Office said it is assisting code enforcement and animal services crews with the seizure.

Sources tell FOX5 that they are in the process of tranquilizing the tigers.

According to initial details from the sheriff’s office, crews are expected to be out there for the “better part of the day.”

In Nye County, it is unlawful to any person, corporation, partnership, or other legal entity to import, transfer, sell, purchase, or possess an animal classified as special conditions within Nye County unless that person, corporation, partnership, or other legal entity holds a permit or is exempt from holding a permit, a county code states.

The seizure is taking place on private property, the sheriff’s office said.

The Nye County sheriff says deputies issued the search warrant for a man they say has owned the tigers for the last seven years.

Deputies are working to take the tigers to an unidentified animal sanctuary.

They say the owners have been violating county ordinances and special condition permits for the last seven years.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
