LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The estate of O.J. Simpson has accepted a creditor claim by Fred Goldman for approximately $58 million, potentially ending a decades-long legal feud stemming from the 1994 murders of Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson.
According to court documents filed Friday, Nov. 14, in Clark County District Court, Simpson’s estate approved Goldman’s creditor claim in the amount of $57,997,858.12, plus judgment interest at Nevada statutory rates from February 3, 2021.
Goldman initially submitted a creditor claim for $117,041,675.27 in July 2024 to resolve a civil trial verdict from 1997. The original California judgment was based on the wrongful death lawsuit Goldman filed after his son Ron was killed in June 1994 at the Los Angeles home of Nicole Brown Simpson, O.J. Simpson’s ex-wife.
Malcolm LaVergne, the executor of Simpson’s estate, said in court filings that Goldman’s claim was sufficient to declare the probate proceeding a liquidation estate.
The court documents show Goldman’s claim was based on a judgment entered against Simpson on March 10, 1997, in Los Angeles County Superior Court. The California judgment was renewed three times — in 2006, 2015, and 2022 — and was domesticated in Nevada on February 3, 2021, for $57,997,858.12.
LaVergne said the estate will continue to work with Goldman on a more accurate accounting of the interest accumulated.
Simpson died in 2024 in Las Vegas at 76 years old.
