LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Henderson Police have identified the officer involved in a deadly shooting Thursday.

The Henderson Police Department said officers investigated a burglary in southeast Las Vegas Wednesday around 5:30 p.m. According to police, a vehicle was stolen and was tracked to a home in the 3800 block of Casa Colorado Drive, near Twain Avenue and Boulder Highway.

The next morning, HPD’s SWAT team served the warrant at the home and found a 71-year-old man armed.

During the encounter, Officer Michael Stevens fired toward the man and struck him. Police said medical aid was immediately provided, and the man was transported to a nearby hospital, where he died.

The Clark County Coroner has not yet identified the man.

Henderson police say no officers were injured during the encounter.

Officer Stevens has been employed with the Henderson Police Department since July of 2015. HPD says he is currently assigned to the Operations Support Division.

Police say he has been placed on paid administrative leave, according to the department’s police.

This is the second officer-involved shooting for HPD in 2025.
