LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – ‘Nevada hand’ and local city leaders celebrated the new affordable housing development in Henderson with the groundbreaking ceremony.

The ceremony was held on March 3 near Boulder Highway and Gibson road to mark the launch of the Sunrise Ranch Apartments.

The apartments will provide affordable housing for families, with up to 60 units reserved for kids aging out of the foster care system.

“We believe this is the first of its kind not just in Henderson but in all of Nevada. We are excited to be really thinking about the community needs and recognizing there are kids with not a lot of options once they leave the foster care system. and once they leave, they are adults and on their own. if they have a safe stable place that they can live their able to do all sorts of things and really reach their success faster,” said Audra Hamernik, Nevada HAND President and CEO.

Clark County social services will provide on-site support services for young residents.

The apartments are expected to to be completed and available for rent by next year.
