LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Nevada State Police is investigating a multi tractor trailer crash on l-15.
NSP reported on Nov. 22 just after 5 p.m. patrol units responded to a crash near mile marker 78 northbound of l-15.
According to police a 2022 multicolored Freightliner tractor trailer was attempting to make an illegal u-turn.
Two 2020 Peterbuilt tractor trucks were traveling northbound in the right travel lane. One was silver and the other was black.
The silver tractor began to slow down with the black tractor trailing behind it.
Then police say, a 2024 Izuzu NRR box truck attempted to change lanes hitting the left rear truck bed being hauled by the black Peterbuilt.
The black Peterbuilt truck slid and hit the back of the silver Peterbuilt truck.
The driver of the multicolored truck ran before police arrived.
NSP reported 42-year-old Ivan Trodosechky Paniagua Martinez from Pasadena was driving the Izuzu. Martinez died on the scene due to the injuries he sustained.
The NSP Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating the incident.
According to officials this marks the 68th fatal crash that has resulted in 76 fatalities in 2024 so far.
