LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Bellagio Conservatory aims to transport visitors to a fantasy land without even leaving the Las Vegas Strip. The display contained within the 14-thousand square foot botanical garden would be impressive if it remained static year-round, but it doesn’t. Five times a year the conservatory gets a complete makeover.
Recently, the Bellagio granted FOX5 exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the changeout, from tear-down to rebuild to reveal, photojournalist Gerard Duya got to see it all through his lens.
“It is the most enormous, absolutely so much fun chore that you could ever imagine. It’s like planning a party, or a décor installation times ten thousand,” shares Conservatory Project Manager Lea Jonic.
Jonic oversees it all, keeping a small army of builders, gardeners, and artists, on task and on deadline. Our cameras followed her, and her team through the process as they prepared visitors for an uplifting experience.
Watch for “Creating Higher Love” Thursday only on FOX5 News.
