LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Southern Nevada Health District is investigating several acute cases of gastrointestinal illnesses connected to oysters.
According to SNHD, the oysters in question were from South Korea, imported through California, then shipped to grocery stores and served at restaurants.
Health officials in California have also been notified of the investigation.
Five Clark County residents reported being sick after consuming oysters linked to the investigation. Officials say at this time no hospitalizations have been reported.
Those who became ill experienced symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, and stomach pain.
Other symptoms could be fever, chills, headache, muscle aches and fatigue, according to health experts.
SNHD ask anyone who has consumed oysters during April and experience any of these symptoms to submit a foodborne illness complaint or call (702) 759-1300.
