PAHRUMP, Nev. (FOX5) – Property records show Roberta Wind owns the Pahrump property where her tenant, Karl Mitchell, was arrested Wednesday, and his seven tigers were seized by Nye County deputies.
Wind claims she is in a lengthy eviction court battle with Mitchell.
“I wish that Karl would have cooperated and just done on his own accord,” Wind added. “It would have saved him a lot of headache. It would have saved us a lot of headache. That is what I wish.”
Wind said her uncle originally owned the nearly 19-acre property and rented it to Mitchell. Wind became the owner when her uncle died in 2023. She said his wish was for her to sell the property and split the profit between her and her six siblings. She gave Mitchell the opportunity to purchase it, but he refused.
Sometime in the summer, Wind said the Nye County Sheriff’s Office told her Mitchell did not have a permit for the tigers. She gave deputies permission to go on her property and inspect them. She said she did not know Nye County and an animal rescue group would be on her property and taking the tigers away Wednesday.
Wind said she legally evicted Mitchell in January but he filed an appeal. Someone wanted to buy the property but the sale fell through, Wind said, because Mitchell refused to let the buyers see the property.
“I just want him off the property so I could sell it,” Wind sighed. “I lost one buyer, and I still have it on the market. There’s a lot of interest but I have to get the tenant off and he’s refusing.”
