LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Michele Fiore was suspended without pay after a guilty verdict in wire fraud charges.
Fiore was a former Las Vegas councilwoman. She‘s currently Pahrump’s Justice of the Peace.
According to an indictment, she started a charity scheme promising that donations would go toward creating a statue honoring Las Vegas police officers killed in the line of duty.
Fiore was accused of using those donations to pay for political fundraising bills and her daughter’s wedding.
She faced one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and six counts of wire fraud. She pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Commissioners voted unanimously to suspend Fiore without pay.
A judge will sentence Fiore of Jan. 6, 2025. She faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison for each count.
