SPRINGDALE, Utah (FOX5) – A hiker was found dead in Zion National Park on Sunday, park rangers say.
The 37-year-old man was found on the Canyon Overlook Trail in Zion around 7:15 a.m. Arriving medical crews from Hurricane Valley Fire and Rescue pronounced the man dead around 7:40 a.m.
Zion National Park Technical Search and Rescue teams assisted with the recovery efforts, and the hiker’s remains were taken to the Washington County Medical Examiner.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the exact cause of the man’s death.
The trail was temporarily closed during an investigation but has since reopened.
