LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A 71-year-old man is dead after being struck while crossing the street in Henderson on Sunday morning.
According to the Henderson Police Department, officers and firefighters responded to the crash in the area of Lake Mead Parkway and Cornelius Kelly Avenue around 3:50 a.m. It was determined that the crash involved a pedestrian and a gray Toyota SUV.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the Toyota was traveling westbound on Lake Mead when a 71-year-old man using a wheelchair entered the roadway outside of a marked crosswalk. The man was struck by the SUV, and would later be pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say impairment and speed are not believed to be factors in the crash, though the investigation is ongoing.
HPD noted in a release, “The collision is being investigated as the tenth accident-related fatality for 2024.”
