LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A pedestrian is fighting for his life after a suspected drunk driver struck him in the east valley Sunday night.
Around 7:03 p.m., officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to a hit-and-run crash on Charleston Boulevard, east of Broadalbin Drive.
An initial investigation revealed that a 2015 Audi A3 was traveling east on Charleston while a pedestrian was crossing outside a marked crosswalk. The Audi then collided with the pedestrian and fled the scene shortly after, police say.
The pedestrian was transported to Sunrise Hospital by ambulance, and determined to have life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Audi was located a short time later on Lamb Boulevard by another officer and suspected of impairment. LVMPD officers noted that the driver “unsatisfactorily completed” a sobriety test, and was arrested.
The driver – identified as 28-year-old Joscelyne Armendariz-Martinez – was booked at Clark County Detention Center.
An investigation into the collision remains under investigation.
