LAS VEGAS, Nev. (KOLO) – Administrative penalties issued by Nevada OSHA for workplace violations will increase starting this Wednesday, Jan. 15.
The increase in fines comes as a result of Senate Bill 40, passed in 2019, which automatically adopted penalties in alignment with those imposed by the Department of Labor, who annually evaluate their monetary penalties to adjust for inflation on Jan. 15 of each year.
Starting Wednesday, Nevada OSHA’s penalties will increase by 2.59%, effective immediately, for any penalty on or after Jan. 15, 2025, regardless of when the inspection was opened.
- For willful violations, where Nevada OSHA demonstrates that an employer knowingly failed to comply with an OSHA standard, or demonstrated a plain indifference for employee safety, the maximum penalty increases from $161,323 to $165,514.
- For repeated violations, maximum penalties will increase from $161,323 to $165,514.
