LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – This year, photographer Seanet Lopez made dreams come true for over 70 girls by giving away quinceañera dresses to the Las Vegas Valley community.
Lopez took to social media to announce the giveaway and received hundreds of comments. Over the course of a few days, Lopez donated over 73 dresses to quinceañeras.
“There’s no catch, I did get a lot of questions,” Lopez said. “You just come in you try on the dresses and you take it if you like it.”
As a quinceañera photographer, Lopez has an abundance of dresses in her studio. She rents them to girls who couldn’t have a party but wanted a picture in a traditional gown. The dresses run anywhere from $500 to $2,500.
Despite this, every year Lopez gives away dozens of dresses.
“For me I can go to sleep at night knowing someone helped make those girls dreams come true,” Lopez said.
Among the recipients this year was Erika Gutierrez, who’s counting the days until her big day. Her mom, Andrea Gutierrez tells us the giveaway was a huge blessing for her family.
“I’m blessed and it is a miracle to have seen that post, and we were able to get a dress,” Andrea said.
As a single mom, Andrea says having this moment with her daughter hasn’t been easy, but not worrying about having to buy a dress has been a huge weight off her shoulders.
“Were still going to be able to have some kind of quinceañera for her it might not be the most expensive, but I know she’s going to be grateful just to have something, because for us women, having a quinceañera its everything,” said Gutierrez.
Thanks to this giveaway over 70 girls like Erika were able to take home the dress of their dreams. Lopez says she hopes to give away even more dresses next year.
