However, on Friday Metro police gave us a new look into what was left of the charred Cybertruck and the evidence left behind, as they inch closer to why this happened.
According to Dave Shepherd, a former FBI supervisor, those answers will take a while.
“There’s more about motive that what you think. People say well it’s got to be this, it has to be that. No, there’s a lot more to it. A lot goes into it. If you’re going to do something, international terrorism, domestic terrorism, or whatever you’re going to end up doing to start with, it takes a lot of preparation,” Shepherd said.
Shepherd emphasized finding the motive starts with retracing the steps, of Livelsberger.
“It starts prior to the crime scene. How did that person get there, what did they make, what’s he waiting for, why’s he parked there? What’s he waiting for outside? What’s he waiting for inside? Tons of questions, how many questions are involved? Until you stop thinking of questions, the case is not done,” Shepherd said.
On Friday, Metro police said tips are coming in by the hour. As those tips come in, they are also relying on technology to help them figure out the the route Livelsberger took from Colorado to Las Vegas.
“We did a variety of video and photo comparisons to match the clothing.” Assistant Sheriff Dori Koren said.
During Friday’s press briefing, police showed surveillance footage from a Tesla charging stations that show Livelsberger wearing a distinctive brown jacket.
They were able to identify him in other footage as well.
In our conversation with Shepherd, he said that in cases like this federal agencies rely heavily on tips and conversations that anyone has had with the suspect.
“We talk to a lot of people what about his former people he was with in the military, what about his former roommate, what about girlfriends. what about his cousin, what about anybody anything that could help us put together the why and is there anyone else that we might be concerned about,” Shepherd said.
