LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Two people are displaced after a south Las Vegas fire Monday morning, damaging up to $50,000 in valuables.

The Clark County Fire Department said a call came in at 11:51 a.m. to report a fire at 10606 Zengali Court near Cactus and Valley View. This is a one-story home. Crews first started to respond with 30 personnel.

CCFD said a plumber sweating pipes ignited the fire behind walls in the house. According to plumber websites, “sweating pipes” means soldering copper pipes.

Crews arrived at 11:56 a.m. and saw smoke showing from the roof. Water was on the fire at 12:04 p.m., but crews called a second alarm three minutes later.

Utilities were secures and the fire was knocked down at 12:14 p.m.

One male, female and large dog were displaced by the fire. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.

The estimated loss is between $25-50K. The cause of the fire was listed as “unintentional.”
