LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – An arrest report obtained by FOX5 is shedding light on the suspect who was linked to three different valley murders while serving time for the death of one person.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Michael Coleman is accused of killing William Hill Jr., Marcus Larry, Benjamin McCarty Jr., and Kiada Stewart.
Coleman is also accused of seriously injuring Kenneth Reid. who survived the shooting but suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
Victim #1: William Hill Jr.
On Nov. 26, 2022, at 3:24 p.m., police dispatchers received a call from Angela Conway-Hill, who stated that her husband had been shot multiple times. Arriving officers found William Hill on the ground, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Hill would later die from his injuries at UMC.
According to the arrest report, witnesses at the scene would tell police that they drove to the area to have Hill look at their car battery.
They stated that while Hill was working on the vehicle, an unknown suspect approached them on foot.
The suspect was wearing a black hoodie, a black hat, and jeans fired multiple rounds at Hill.
Surveillance video captured ten gunshots were fired, according to the report.
William’s wife said that several unnamed people claimed that Hill was targeted due to an “ongoing feud between his son, Shavonte Hill, and other 004 Hoodsmen gang members.”
The feud was allegedly over money owed that was fraudulently obtained government assistance money, she told police.
Shavonte was in federal custody for being in possession of a firearm and was set to be released.
Shavonte was rebooked on federal Wire Fraud charges related to a Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) scheme committed during the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the arrest report, Angela claimed a person who went by the name “Wicked” “ordered a hit” on Shavonte due to the owed money. Angela believed because Shavonte was not released, William was killed for the debt Shavonte owed.
On Nov. 27, 2022, detectives spoke to neighbors who identified Carl Chester, who goes by Wicked, as the person they believed paid to have William Hill killed.
On Nov. 30, 2022, DMV records linked a Hyundai Sonata with Las Vegas License plates, chrome door handles, and a panoramic sunroof to one at the crime scene.
Investigators determined the vehicle was registered to Cassandra Coleman. Records confirmed Cassandra Coleman had a son named Michael Coleman.
On Jan 12, 2023, Shayla Hill contacted detectives and shared that her father, William Hill, was Killed over a debt owed to Carl Chester by her uncle Michael Mays. Shayla believed her father was killed because Mays received about $75,000 in loans and did not split the money with Chester.
Detectives learned while investigating the murder of Kidada Stewart that Carl Chester orchestrated the murders of several 004 Hoodsmen gang members.
Victim #2: Kidada Stewart
On Feb. 27, 2023, at 9:07 a.m., officers were dispatched to another shooting, where officers located Kidada Stewart suffering from several gunshot wounds.
Detectives located the same red Hyundai Sonata at the scene.
Police report When Stewart arrived home earlier that day, a suspect in dark clothing approached her and fired several gunshots, killing her.
Detectives learned that the vehicle was stopped by Arizona troopers and released with a warning.
On March 2, officers stopped the Hyundai, which his stepdaughter was driving.
Officers reportedly towed the vehicle and conducted a search warrant. Several cellular devices, possible DNA swabs, a firearm with a laser affixed to it, and additional magazines were found.
Officers located Michael Coleman on May 4, 2023, and his residence was surrounded.
Coleman refused to exit his residence and barricaded himself inside. According to the report, his surrender was negotiated via cell phone.
Coleman was booked into Clark County Detention Center on an open murder charge.
Police discovered conversations with an unknown number about William Hill on Coleman’s cellphone, which was used to communicate with negotiators.
Victim #3: Marcus Larry
After discovering the firearms inside the Hyundai, police reopened the investigation into the murder of Marcus Larry.
Police noted in a press conference that Oscar Richardson was wrongfully arrested for the murder of Larry and would later be released.
On November 23, 2021, detectives arrived at a Teriyaki Madness on Charleston Boulevard after receiving reports of a shooting. The victim, Marcus Larry was inside the restaurant ordering food with his nephew.
The second victim, identified as employee Ursula Moreno, was taking their order when Coleman entered and opened fire.
Larry would later die from his injuries, but Moreno, who was also struck multiple times, would survive.
Police later connected the gun discovered in Coleman’s Hyundai to the murder.
Surveillance video at the scene showed Coleman fleeing in a white van.
According to police, Coleman’s DNA was collected from the vehicle’s handles.
Officials confirmed a tracker was placed on Larry’s vehicle before his murder.
Victim #4: Benjamin McCarty
While investigating the three other murders, detectives learned that Michael Coleman was involved in a large-scale U.S. District Court indictment on racketeering charges related to the Rollin’ 60s Crips criminal gang.
Coleman, Arlanders Gibson, and Benjamin McCarty were among 21 people indicted.
According to detectives, Gibson was arrested in connection to McCarty’s murder. They determined the shooter was still being sought after.
On May 30, 2021, officers responded to a Pep Boys location on Charleston Boulevard after receiving reports of a shooting. McCarty was found lying in the parking lot, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
An investigation revealed that McCarty brought his vehicle in after it broke down. While attempting to tow the vehicle, an unknown suspect ran up to him and shot him several times, said police.
Surveillance video showed a vehicle picking up the shooter following the incident and driving away.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Gibson.
Gibson’s phone revealed conversations with an unknown number, which was later revealed to be Coleman, discussing the murder.
Victim #5: Kenneth Reid
On Jan. 13, 2021, officers arrived at the scene of a shooting and made contact with Kenneth Reid, who was shot and found lying in the street.
Reid was transported to UMC, where he was treated for his injuries.
Reid would later tell police that he was leaving the Lucky Club after a night of gambling when two unknown suspects rushed him and shot him multiple times.
He added that he had just been released from prison for the murder of a 9-year-old girl, which he had committed with Marcus Larry.
Police stated that they later discovered a text message conversation, believed to be between Michael Coleman and Carl Chester, discussing Reid’s shooting.
A review of trackers obtained by police showed that one was also attached to Reid’s vehicle.
The LVMPD police report says Carl Chester was killed on May 18, 2024, when members of William Hill’s family ambushed him as he was leaving the Sky Zone trampoline park with relatives.
