Police found three guns tied to deadly shooting at Las Vegas park

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Three teenagers are facing charges after a shooting early Monday morning that left one teen dead and two others hurt at a Las Vegas basketball court, police say.

In an arrest report obtained by FOX5, police say Jose Juarez and another male attempted to rob two people, a male and a female, as they sat on a bench at East Family Park around 1 a.m. Monday. When the male refused to give them anything, police say shots were fired.

The male from the bench was shot in the face and abdomen and died on the basketball court, the report says. The female was struck in the chest with bullet fragments and sustained an injury to her right wrist.

Police say Juarez’s friend was also shot. He and another male, who police say had been in the area and aware of the planned robbery, were arrested near the scene.

Juarez underwent surgery at a local hospital and survived, police say.

The report says three guns were found. One was near the victim on the basketball court, and two were in the Las Vegas Wash area near the park. They believe those guns belonged to Juarez and his friend.

Officers also spoke with two people who lived in trailers just south of the park. Both of their trailers were struck by gunfire.

Juarez was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on multiple charges. Those include open murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit robbery with a deadly weapon and firing a gun at or into an occupied structure.

The two other teens were booked into the Juvenile Detention Center and are also facing charges.
