LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Nevada State Police is searching for a driver in a deadly hit-and-run in Nye County.
Police said the crash happened early Wednesday morning at G Ranch and Mecca roads. This is 111 miles northwest of Las Vegas.
Police say 49-year-old Isrrael Gutierrez-Naranjo drove a Ford F-150 pickup northbound on G Ranch. At the same moment, a pedestrian walked in the same travel lane of the Ford. Police say Gutierrez-Naranjo struck the pedestrian.
He exited his vehicle to check the pedestrian, but would still flee the scene.
Witnesses remained on scene and reported the incident.
The pedestrian was identified as Pedro Felipe Ramirez, a 48-year-old male of Amargosa Valley, Nevada.
Police say the suspect fled Amargosa in a Chevrolet pickup.
He faces the following charges:
- Nevada Revised Statute 484B.653 Reckless driving resulting in death.
- Nevada Revised Statute 484E.010 Leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.
- Nevada Revised Statute 484B.280 Duty to use due care around pedestrian
The investigation is being conducted by the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol – Traffic Homicide Unit.
