LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Las Vegas police said a motorcyclist was speeding before he died in a southeast valley crash.
Police said the crash happened Monday around 7:03 p.m. near Flamingo and McLeod Drive.
Evidence shows that the motorcycle sped above the speed limit eastbound on Flamingo. He was approaching the intersection with McLeod on a green traffic signal.
At the same moment, a 24-year-old woman driving a Nissan Versa attempted a left turn to southbound Mojave on a flashing yellow arrow signal.
A crash happened when the Nissan crossed the motorcyclist’s path. The man, believed to be in his 20s, was separated from the motorcycle and landed on the roadway.
Medical arrived and said the man died at the scene. The driver of the Nissan remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment.
“The rider’s death marks the 1st traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction for the year 2025,” police said. “This collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD Collision Investigation Section.”
