
LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The president of Nevada State University is stepping down.
Dr. DeRionne Pollard has served as president for the last four years. In her announcement, she said changes will go into effect on Sept. 5, but her last day on campus will be July 31.
Pollard says she has accepted a position to lead the American Association of Community Colleges. Under Pollard’s leadership, NSU renamed its institution from a college to university.
The university also launched an athletics program and increased graduation rates. Dr. Amber Lopez Lasater has been appointed interim president.
