LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Free meals will now be available throughout the summer for those 18 years and younger in Las Vegas.
The Summer Food Service Program will be providing the meals while school is out. Last year, the program reported giving out more than 20.7 million breakfasts and 39.6 million lunches following the 2022-2023 school year.
Officials also note that many students depend on this food to fill meal gaps while school is out.
“For many students, school breakfast and lunch may be their main source of nutrition,” said NDA Division of Food and Nutrition Administrator Patricia Hoppe. “We are proud to partner with these local organizations to ensure thousands of students in our state continue to have access to nutritious meals during the summer months.”
SFSP is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and administered by the Nevada Department of Agriculture to provide food through community organization.
Sites throughout the state will offer free meals, no questions asked, at playgrounds, housing projects, camps, schools, community centers, churches, and other public sites.
Parents, children and teens can find a meal site near them by visiting nvsummermeals.com, texting “Summer Meals” to 914-342-7744 or calling 1-866-348-6479.
