LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The prosecution has asked for a seven-figure bail amount for a suspect charged with killing three people in a deadly DUI crash in Henderson last week.
Darryl Smith, 36, appeared in Henderson Township Justice Court on January 11 and waived a reading of the complaint against him. He is facing three DUI charges and two counts of reckless driving following a January 7 crash that killed a mother and her two children. He entered a plea of not guilty.
During Thursday’s hearing, Chief Deputy District Attorney Tracy Hibbetts requested that Smith’s bail be increased to $1 million from its current $255,000. A hearing on the matter was scheduled for January 17.
Judge Kam Brian also ordered the defendant to refrain from driving and to abstain from alcohol and controlled substances.
A preliminary hearing was scheduled for April 17.
